Belgium received several F-84 models, including 21 F-84E and later 95 F-84G, then F-84F, and RF-84F variants. The F-84s were in service from April 1951 when the first F-84E was received until May 1972 when the last of the RF-84Fs were replaced by Mirages. Also, in 1971 and 1972, after converting to Mirages, several of the F-84Fs were modified as decoys to resemble Mirages. These modified Thunderstreaks were nicknamed "Thundermirage."
